Techie + Coach?

It might surprise you to know that coaching isn't the only work I do. I have a very successful career in Technology. I humbly tell people my list of roles and progression throughout the years and say I was very lucky and fortunate but truthfully it was a lot of hard work!

I had an interview with a firm that was potentially looking to represent me as their candidate for a senior project management role. In the interview they happened to ask me:

" What do you like to do outside of being a PM?"

What came out of my mouth even impressed me!

I talked about my coaching business and how my passion for seeing people succeed is what drives me and fulfills me. I explained that coaching is interwoven in my project management practice as well. I don't just want a company to succeed, I want my project teams (each and everyone of them) to succeed as well. In the time I have been in the technology world I have certainly been on the receiving side of how to not treat people. I treat everyone like they matter and they are important, because they are!!! People are the ultimate reason why a company succeeds. It's a no brainer for me; you succeed, they succeed, everyone is happy. I am so glad that we are evolving and times are changing with getting awareness out there but there is still a long way to go.

That interview lasted 2 hours! In the end they not only wanted to represent me, they rushed to get me in front of the company hiring because to them I represented their values, they wanted me on their team and didn't want to lose me to another company.

So Techie + Coach? Heck ya!!
